On 2 December 1805, the French Emperor Napoleon defeated the troops of the Russian and Austrian Emperor at Austerlitz in the (these days) Czech Republic. With this battle, the name of Napoleon Bonaparte would forever become immortal.. Before this, Bonaparte was already known and feared in Europe, but not until Austerlitz did the European dynasties realize that -even when united- they were not strong enough to defeat the ambitious Corsicans.
