The no. 4 Cartridge Kodak was a big and bulky camera made from 1897 to 1907 and took 4 × 5 inch exposures on 104 roll film. The first models had a wooden stand, the later were of metal. Two image viewfinders were built-in for vertical and horizontal images. This camera was the only Kodak using the 5 inch wide No.104 roll film (the ' cartridge ' film though).
Kodak No. 4 Cartridge
In 1897 Kodak introduced the first of their new cameras with a roll film with paper carrier. The No. 4 Cartridge Kodak took the new Type 104 cartridge roll film that was introduced especially for this camera and took 4 x 5 inch photos. It was by far the most popular of the three cartridge-Kodak models during these years, with about 90,000 sold from 1897 to 1907. In 1898 the model N0.5 was launched, while the No. 3 was introduced in the beginning of 1900. All three Cartridge Kodaks were discontinued in 1907.
Lovely specimen for the Kodak collector. Beautifully preserved and has the respectable age of 120 years.
