Born on the 7th April 1897 in Cologne, Carl Bellingrodt undoubtedly belongs to the ranks of the most famous German railway photographers. Already before the First World War he started photographing various subjects, but he soon specialised in landscape- and especially railway photography. Although he practised photography as a hobby in the course of his work as a civil servant, there are more than 30 000 photographic recordings, many of which are today regarded as classical masterpieces. Other than the systematic recordings of complete Series the recording of railway scenes in the landscapes and those of the atmospheric recording of stations and their buildings and surrounds received an almost cult status. Thus Carl Bellingrodt was an inspiration for many railway photographers that still use the “Bellingrodt-perspective” to record scenes in modern times in the classic methods of the old master. In memory of the railway photography pioneer who died on the 24th September, 1971 in Wuppertal, but is not forgotten, Märklin created this 5 piece special series of selected H0 models. Each year a locomotive is produced in exquisite detail and technical detailing as a Premium-limited once-off series. Each of the models is provided with a decorative display case. On the back wall the appropriate Bellingrodt-photo of the locomotive is displayed. The lower part has a glass bottom, on which the model is attractively displayed. This makes the direct comparison between the Bellingrodt-photograph of the modelled machine and the exquisite imitation model possible. The glass front window provides an effective protection against dust for the locomotive. Tested and working. The photos are an integral part of the description of the lot.
