A very special chess set! The wooden chess pieces are of a light type of wood and the blades of the windmills can turn, very artful.
All chess pieces are equipped with their original green felt pads. The chess pieces are fully inspired by the well-known book ‘The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha’ by Miquel de Cervantes Saavedra. The chess pieces depict the following characters:
King: Don Quichot
Queen: The beautiful Dulcinea, the woman of his dreams.
Rooks: The windmills that Quixote thought were huge monsters.
Knights: Rocinante, his emaciated horse.
Bishops: The two brothers that he fought.
Pawns: His loyal squire Sancho Panza.
The set is in very good condition, see the enclosed photos. Note: the chessboard is only depicted for illustrative purposes and is not part of the lot.
