Johannes Garst was born in 1950 in Beerzeveld. From 1973 he paints portraits, surreal and erotic art. He is also known as an adept of J.H. Moesman in Dutch art history. He has done many exhibitions. His surrealistic paintings and panels show alienating situations, with symbolism, eroticism, confrontation, and humour. In particular the used earth colours give a special atmosphere, as if he were musically inspired, giving his own tone to the displayed performances.
