Antonio Medina Serrano (1944) - Escena costumbrista
He studied at the Escuela de Cerámica, and after that another four years next to the painter José María Salgas. He was also a free student at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
During some time, he worked intensely in the restoration of traditionalist paintings from the 19th century, and by working on this he started to love the paintings of this genre that he later cultivated, too.
In 1983 he held his first individual exhibition: a series of updated Madrid traditionalist paintings. Antonio Median is a painter with a very wide range: portrait, landscape, watercolour.
He has held six individual exhibitions, all of them with a lot of success, critic and public. He has participated in twenty collective exhibitions, in different national galleries.
The traditionalist genre, which deeply impressed him from the days where he used to restore paintings by Fortuna, Madrazo, Jimenez Aranda and other masters from the 19th century, has had in Antonio Medina a magnificent cultivator.
An assured stroke, brilliant colours, the painter knows how to give a deep and rich evocative power to his vintage paintings.
