In his extensive career as an artist, Joan Soler Jové has cultivated different styles: oil, watercolour, collage, mixed media, but his main work focuses mainly on drawing. His work shows mainly everyday scenes, urban landscapes and, above all, circus scenes.
In his early years, Joan Soler Bové participated in various painting and drawing competitions. In 1951, he participated in the National Contest for children under 16, obtaining the first prize. He obtained three times the Manuel Risques Medal of the Agrupación de Acuarelistas de Cataluña, in the years 1958 (urban subject), 1961 (landscape) and 1963 (still life). In 1967, the city council of l’Hospitalet commissioned a series of urban themes about the city that are part of the permanent collection of the Museo de la Ciudad de l’Hospitalet and that served to do different exhibitions. It was also presented in Madrid, in the Ministry of Information and Tourism. In the years he lived in the city of Mallorca, the owner of the restaurant “Can Tomeu” commissioned him to decorate with his drawings and watercolours the walls of this famous venue, a focal point of the Majorcan cultural and social life of the time. Joan Soler Jové held his first solo exhibition in 1953, in the Sala Rovira of Barcelona, presenting a set of watercolours about Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo and El Escorial. In 1958, together with Ramón Noe and Pilar Leita, he presented the exhibition “I Salón de Circo” in the Sala Jaimes of Barcelona, Mataró, Figueres and Palma de Mallorca. Since then, he has held more than 200 exhibitions (Paris, London, Munich, Stockholm...)
