Oil on canvas by the famous Belgian painter Luc De Decker (Ninove, 13 August 1907 - Meerbeke, 25 March 1982). Good condition of the canvas, but the frame is damaged on the back (see details in the photo). Signed on the bottom left. Dimensions With frame: 99 x 79 cm. Without frame: 90 x 70 cm. LUC DE DECKER attended school in the Dutch state school for boys in Ninove, where he was taught by the drawing teacher Versteele. He showed his first work to the painter Edgar Bytebier (1875-1940) from Dilbeek, who advised Lucs’ parents to let their son attend the academy. In 1929, he is granted permission to enrol at the academy of fine arts in Brussels. His teachers were Alfred Bastien (1873-1955) and Jean Delville (1867-1953). He acquired several prizes and already had his first individual exhibition in Ninove in 1931. Finally, he perfect his portrait technique with being educated at the higher institute of fine arts in Antwerp where he was taught by Baron Isidoor Opsomer (1878-1967). In the early 1960s, he was charged with designing the banknotes of twenty (1964, type 'atomium') and fifty (1966, type 'royal couple') Franc. Between 1970 and 1975, he also designed 17 Belgian stamps.
